Cynthia grew up in the New York City music scene. Romanced by California and all things West Coast, she moved to Los Angeles on the heels of the Northridge earthquake.

Inspired by DIY artists like Ani DiFranco, she immersed herself in the indie music world forming Saucy Monky with Dublin-born Annmarie Cullen. Her self-made indie label olivoiL records hosted events that brought the LA music community together. From 1999 to the late 2000s,  Indie Nights and Songwriters on Tap music series’ launched the careers of artists like Gaby Mareno, Amy Kuney; hosted soon to be stars like Sara Bareilles, plus

veterans Colin Hay, Garrison Starr, and Jimmy Gnecco (of OURS).

Saucy Monky went on to perform for festival audiences across Europe, opening for Wilco, The B52’s, Pink, The Cure, Black Eyed Peas, PJ Harvey, Metric, Marianne Faithful, Gipsy Kings and more.

Cynthia is currently scoring films, producing tracks, and writing for new projects and solo releases. Her work on the short film, "Once More, Like Rainman" has been acknowledged by the film festival circuit, winning many awards, including Best Comedy Short at the Oscar/BAFTA qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival and Best Composer (Cynthia Catania) Bridge Fest Film Festival, Vancouver.
